Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto's Bureau of Consumer Protection, in conjunction with the launch of the 12th Annual National Consumer Protection Week, March 7-13, 2010, is issuing a series of daily consumer advisories. The theme of the Consumer Protection Week is Dollars & Sense: Rated "A" for All Ages.

Child Advocacy, Domestic Abuse

Nothing is more important to the future of our state than protecting the well being of our children. Under Catherine Cortez Masto's leadership, the Attorney General's office provides and participates in several state services, including:

  • The Nevada Children's Advocate and Clearinghouse for Missing Children
  • The community notification and identification of known sex offenders, including maintaining the online sex offender registry
  • Providing educational materials so parents can safeguard their children from the dangers of internet and other predators

Fight for Our ChildrenCortez Masto's office has also sponsored events like the CyberSafety Summit and oversees the Technological Crime Board and the "Teaching Tolerance" Task Force.

Every year her office holds numerous conferences and seminars on topics ranging from teen dating violence to Social Networking safety. These events are held in every area of the state.

She has fought for stricter laws for those who commit crimes against children, including stiffer sentences and forfeiture of assets. Cortez Masto will continue to be a strong advocate for Nevada's children.
